Visit Meet Me in the Clearing Between the Waves by Beatriz Chachamotivs Written by: Gabrielle Gronewold
Meet Me in the Clearing Between the Waves marks Beatriz Chachamotivs’ debut comprehensive exhibition. Open now in the Miami Design District, the collection serves as a testimony to the beauty and vulnerability of our marine ecosystems and aims to spark a sense of conservation urgency.
The oceanic motifs throughout the exhibit invite visitors into a pastel, ceramic sea floor covered in sculptures and installations. The sensory playground creates a space for guests to reflect on their relationship with the ocean, become educated on its vulnerability and leave feeling inspired to take strides toward preservation.
Born in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and living in Miami, Chachamovits is an artist and educator whose work captures the mesmerizing appeal, and profound fragility, of the oceanic universe—specifically the decline of coral reef ecosystems. Chachamotivs’ unique expertise in the intersections of art, science and environmental advocacy sets the foundation for her exhibit to articulate the true reality of our at-risk marine ecologies.
Chachamovits’ decade-long journey in drawing and ceramics as well as her sustained commitment to marine conservation creates an output of scientific precision and visual imagination. Exhibit visitors can plan to see the artist’s cabinets of curiosities made entirely out of ceramics and depicting real coral reef motifs and the multidisciplinary immersive installations that create a sensory exploration of the complex marine world.
Visit Beatriz Chachamovits’ Meet Me in the Clearing Between the Waves through November 10th. Open Monday - Wednesday by appointment and Thursday - Sunday 12 - 7 pm at 35 NE 40 St Miami, Florida 33137.
