When it comes to accessorizing, there’s a new spot to shop in the Design District. Yvel opened its first-ever flagship store in the area, bringing with it the brand’s stunning pearl collections and rich history centered around one-of-a-kind pieces crafted by husband and wife duo Orna and Isaac Levy. The brand’s name is the couples’ last name, Levy, in mirror image and since 1986, the couple has been working hard to give new life to the pearl.
Growing up in a family that worked in the pearl business, Orna took the familiar stone and gave it a new twist to much acclaim. The brand has garnered seven “best in pearl design” awards over its tenure, and has been noted by Town & Country as the Couture Design Award winner for three years in a row.
Now the brand resides in the Design District for locals and tourists to snatch up these oyster-birthed gifts. The boutique itself is reminiscent of an oasis, with an homage to the couple’s Israeli roots. The floor was designed to reflect the Judea dessert with “waterfall”-inspired walls connecting the customer to the pearls on display.
Be sure to check out its collection of prized pearl designs in a unique dwelling at 139 N.E. 39th St., Suite 203.
