David Castillo is pleased to present a solo exhibition of new paintings by Studio Lenca, a UK-based artist whose practice is deeply rooted in personal narrative and cultural memory. A graduate of Goldsmiths, University of London, Studio Lenca draws upon autobiographical experiences to explore themes of joy and belonging as transformative, radical gestures. His work constructs counter-narratives that elevate lived experience and ancestral knowledge, challenging dominant cultural frameworks.
Studio Lenca’s paintings are held in prominent public collections, including the Parrish Art Museum, the Rubell Museum, and the Pérez Art Museum Miami. His international recognition includes major commissions, most recently for Hermès in London. He currently lives in the United Kingdom and maintains his studio practice in Margate as part of Tracey Emin’s artist community.
