Opening reception of Super Cooper: Alumni Take the Swamp
Swampspace proudly presents Super Cooper, an exhibition dedicated exclusively to alumni of The Cooper Union, a pioneering institution that transformed the landscape of higher education in America. Founded on the radical principle that education should be “free as air and water,” as articulated by Peter Cooper in 1859, The Cooper Union has cultivated generations of multidisciplinary artists whose practices reflect a deep commitment to intellectual rigor and creative freedom.
This exhibition honors that legacy by showcasing works from a diverse group of local alumni, each of whom shares a profound connection to both the institution and the city of Miami. Featuring works on paper created specifically for the show, the presentation includes pieces mailed in from Cooper Union graduates around the world, forming a collective portrait of shared experience, artistic dialogue, and enduring community.
Curated by fellow alumna Lulu Sanchez, Super Cooper celebrates the spirit of collaboration and the transformative power of education, art, and place.
