FLOR, manufacturer and marketer of design-inspired, eco-friendly carpet tiles, is launching its first creative competition—FLOR’s Design Challenge 2015—and will be hosting one of the events at their Miami store located at 127 NE 40th Street on Tuesday, May 5.

FLOR offers more than 600 individual carpet squares for consumers to use to create original rug designs. FLOR is inviting customers to visit the Miami store on May 5 from 5-8 PM to assemble a small-scale version of a FLOR rug using 30 sample-sized carpet tiles. For the competition, FLOR will have more than 400 sample tiles available for consumers to work with and design their own unique entry.

“Our customers inspire us every day as they create new and innovative looks with our carpet tiles that reflect their own home and personality,” said Rick Kilmer, president, FLOR. “With FLOR, everyone can be a designer, that is what’s fun about our product. I am really looking forward to seeing the creativity of the designs—and sharing the winner’s vision with all FLOR customers.”

The event will also feature a meet-and-greet with award-winning designer Robin Wilson, who will be on hand signing copies of her just-released book, Clean Design: Wellness for Your Lifestyle.

Wilson, along with FLOR employees, will select the top rug design submitted that night. FLOR will host similar events at 10 FLOR store locations: Austin, Dallas, SOHO, Houston, Chicago, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Georgetown, San Francisco, and Portland. Wilson will be at all of the events signing copies of her new book and helping to select the top rug designs.  The 11 finalists will win an 8 x 10 version of their rug design (retail value $900).

From July 6 through July 15, the 11 finalists’ rugs will be posted on www.FLOR.com/designchallenge where anyone is invited to log on and vote for their favorite design. The top vote-getter will see their rug in a future FLOR line. In addition, 50 percent of the net proceeds from the sale of the rug will go to a charity of the winner’s choice (in collaboration with FLOR). The winner will also have the opportunity to name the rug, which will be on display at select FLOR retail stores across the country.
