Design and Architecture Senior High (DASH) PTSA presents the 9th Annual Taste of Design from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday, November 12 at the historic Moore Building located at 4040 N.E. 2nd Ave. in Miami. This year’s theme, “Dare to be DASHing” celebrates the spirit and ingenuity of one of the nation’s premiere public schools, annually ranked among the top 20 U.S. high schools. Works from the school’s promising students, including visual art, industrial design, film, graphics and fashion, will be showcased throughout the evening.
The annual celebration serves as an important fundraiser for DASH students, providing much-needed resources to Miami’s next generation of artists and designers. Last year’s event helped send 40 students to Parsons, the School for Visual Arts in New York and other prestigious programs around the country.
With food from renowned chef Dewey Lossaso, whose Foundlings Club introduced the world to Florida Progressive cuisine, and eclectic cocktails from Southern Wine & Spirits, the evening promises to be an electrifying mash-up for foodies and design aficionados alike. Well known for ushering in the multi million-dollar makeover of Miami’s iconic Forge restaurant, Lossaso is now corporate executive chef for Bill Hansen Catering, whose list of notable clients include President Barack Obama, Bill Gates and Gloria Estefan. In addition to Lossaso, Miami favorites Soyka, the Crepe Maker, Divieto’s, and Enchanting Creations round out a night dedicated to seriously good food. Events by Drew will provide a DJ to keep the night spinning.
Also on the menu: a silent auction featuring works by the school’s up-and-coming artists, spa outings, exotic vacations, home goods, and hot tickets to area shows. Lynn Martinez, co-anchor of WSVN-TV’s Deco Drive will reprise her role as Mistress of Ceremonies for the evening.
More than 400 guests are expected to attend, including some of South Florida’s most influential and innovative leaders in the arts and business.
