Dance, design and craft come together in “Behind the Curtain”, a preview of the costumes for a world premiere ballet, that debuted in February 2023 by the Miami City Ballet. In his first ballet for MCB, esteemed choreographer Pontus Lidberg used Phillip Glass’ hypnotic Violin Concerto for his latest innovative exploration of how dance, technology and film can combine into an inspiring work of art. The costumes were designed and created by Spiridonakou, a Miami-based fashion brand run by former ballerina, Andrea Spiridonakos. Each of the unique outfits was individually hand-painted on silk, inspired by Miami’s energy and the surreal logic of a dream-like world.
