Locust Projects presented The Litany by Chicago-based conceptual artist Bethany Collins in their Main Gallery. In the center of Locust Projects’ Main Gallery is “My destiny is in your hands”, an installation covered with white embossed wallpaper on which Collins makes use of the official state flowers of the American South to memorialize moments of repeated violence throughout American history.
As part of the project, a day-long duration performance took place on December 6 from 10 am to 5 pm, where 100 versions of “My Country ‘Tis of Thee” will be sung by volunteers and small choirs continuously throughout the day.
In the Project Room, Miami-based artist Michael Loveland presented In Process: Civic Sculpture, a site-specific installation using painting and sculpture to communicate the artist’s efforts to preserve the Palm Grove neighborhood.
