Artist Paula Crown debuted TRANSPOSITION: Over Many Miles, a site-specific installation which features an interactive sculpture fabricated in collaboration with Theaster Gates’ Studio and the Design Apprenticeship Program at the Arts Incubator at the University of Chicago in Washington Park. TRANSPOSITION presents a 4’ x 25’ x 6’ PERforation sculpture from the series by Crown, built from a 3D derivation of torn edges of sketchbook paper. The sculpture is sited on 3,200 square feet of constructed flooring extrapolated from a drawing from Crown’s The Africa Series (2010-12). TRANSPOSITION will be on view through March 2015.
