Photographer Shaniqwa Jarvis and filmmaker Rajendra Debah discuss their project “Rituals”, an exhibition which opened in the Miami Design District in December, 2019. It was held in TheArsenale.
The exhibit featured a photo installation with three different video stories based on the lives on black families. Jarvis said the exhibit celebrates black life in an uplifting and lighthearted way.
“Work like this needs to exist and people need to see others outside of just white people enjoying their lives and doing whatever they want,” Jarvis explains.
The “Rituals” exhibit was also the focus of a ‘zine published by HighSnobiety and the Miami Design District. This video also features the long-sleeve crewneck tees with still from “Rituals” which were created by the clothing brand Fear of God to celebrate the exhibit.
