This Tokyo-based artist captures his subject matter in a few stylized brushstrokes—known as Japanese sumi-e painting, and then paints over that image with graffiti pop art. In his current series “Innocent Forest,” imaginary animals wander around a mysterious forest with those animals representing him and the forest as the U.S. when he traveled in his youth. This took place during Miami Art Week at the Miami Design District.
