Led by Maximilian Davis, Ferragamo’s Spring/Summer 2023 collection “A New Dawn” fuses signature elements with fresh DNA in its muted color palette and relaxed elegance. An edited preview of the Trinidadian-British designer’s capsule collection is available until Nov. 30, ahead of official release.

The collection reflects themes from the designer’s first Milan runway show and pays contemporary homage to Salvatore Ferragamo’s 1920s and ‘30s era designs for stars like Judy Garland and Marilyn Monroe. Davis’s spin on the luxury brand’s history is encapsulated in sparkling crystallized tops, harness-detailed tailored trousers and second-skin-like suede garments.

“I wanted to pay tribute to Salvatore’s start by bringing in the culture of Hollywood – but new Hollywood. Its ease and sensuality; its sunset and sunrise,” Davis said.

Iconic elements like the Gancini motif are re-imagined in the curved heel of Elina Sandal, while the archival Wanda handbag is reconceived with new proportions and a high-shine finish. Davis’s minimalist interpretation of loafers and boots is seen in the Oxford Shoe and Ankle Boot. Pieces like the Canvas Shoulder Bag employ sculptural cutouts with a canvas inner and polished leather exterior, echoing “the undulating forms of the beachfront” and the “linear precision which marks Davis’ vision.”

“It relates to Ferragamo, to Hollywood, to the ocean – but also to me, and to my own DNA,” said Davis. “I wanted to show that perspective, but now through the Ferragamo lens.”

Ahead of the collection, Ferragamo created The World of Ferragamo, an immersive, digital tool that allows users to experience the SS23 Preview and interact with Davis’s fresh take on iconic heritage. Inspired by the SS23 Milan runway show, the virtual experience is a 3D space compromised of four corners dedicated to shoe, handbag, womenswear and menswear categories.

The preview is available until Nov. 30 on Ferragamo.com and across 17 store locations including in Miami, New York Fifth Avenue, Beverly Hills, Costa Mesa, Sao Paulo, London Old Bond Street, Paris Avenue Montaigne, Milan, Dubai, Shanghai, Beijing, Chengdu, Hong Kong, Taipei, Seoul and Tokyo.

Visit the Ferragamo location in the Miami Design District at 115 NE 39th Street.
