Ladies who’ve been longing for those long heels with red bottoms can rejoice. There is now a way to wear Christian Louboutin daily, yes daily, without having to expand your closet or win the lottery.
The master of sole, and the man responsible for creating some of the most coveted shoes of all time that elongate legs and make a woman feel sexy and stylish just announced the release of his first ever beauty collection – a line of 30 different shades of nail polish that are all inspired by his beautiful shoes.
Rogue, the first shade, a rich red (did you really think it would be anything other?) designed to flatter any skin tone will be available starting August 1st. After Rouge receives it’s time in the beauty spotlight, the other three collections including Pops, bright bold hues; Noirs, intense blues, blacks, greens and dark browns; Nudes, pale pinks, soft khakis and vanillas and chocolates, will begin to paint the town at the end of August.
For those who don’t know the history behind the red bottom, Mr. Louboutin was unhappy with the Pensée prototype, a shoe designed in 1992 that was influenced by Andy Warhol and the Pop Art movement. Something seemed off to Mr. Louboutin while examining the shoe, and noticed an assistant polishing her nails at her desk. He took the bottle of red polish and painted the bottom of the shoe… And the rest is history.
Paying homage the beauty product that inspired it all, Mr. Louboutin notes, “The red sole was born from red nail polish. I am giving back to nails what the shoe took from the nails many years ago.”
Like the shoes, the polish bottles feature a long heel that serves as the handle to perfectly paint on the rich pigments. Giving new meaning to nail art, you’ll want to keep them on display, as bottles themselves are little 'objets d’art' where the haute hues appear to be enclosed in a block of fine crystal.
The polishes will retail for $50 a bottle so consider at-home manis and pedis or putting a lo-jack on the bottom when you take them to your nail salon. Find them starting August 1st at Christian Louboutin in Miami, 155 NE 40th Street, Miami, Florida 33137, (305) 576-6820
