Jay Z isn’t the only person singing Tom Ford’s praises. The opening of TOM FORD’s Miami flagship has the entire city rejoicing the arrival of the label’s Design District location—Jay Z’s “Tom Ford” earworm notwithstanding. This particular store is unlike any other, blurring the lines between art, fashion and design, which is a style emblematic of the neighborhood. “Architecturally, [the Miami Design District] has become one of the most exciting and vibrant places in the world and I am thrilled to open my sixth US store there,” said Tom Ford.
In following with the neighborhood trend, TOM FORD exists in a vanguard architectural building — think pleated surfaces, recessed storefronts, concrete panels—designed by architects Aranda/Lasch. The visually stunning exterior serves as an introduction to the awe-inspiring Tom Ford designs inside. Entering through a limestone-like storefront and into the Women’s perfumery and Eyewear salon, the sensory journey intertwines sight and scent—taking visitors through a crisp white room accented by chrome and white-and-gray marble flooring and outfitted with the designer’s signature fragrances.
From there the retail experience is fluid and relaxed, evoking the feeling of wandering through a luxurious residence, complete with elegant furnishings. Women’s ready to wear fashion and accessories are all found on the first floor, reserving the second floor for the men’s salon, which is draped in rich, masculine colors and dark woods. In it you’ll find sportswear, shoes, fragrances and eyewear—as well as numerous antique bronze mirrors should you so be inclined to glimpse yourself while humming, “I rock Tom Ford.”
