Did you #MAKEAPROMISE on January 12th? This year, Louis Vuitton celebrated the one-year anniversary of their global partnership with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) by throwing the first big fashion bash of the new year. All over the world, fashion insiders gathered at 460 Louis Vuitton stores to raise funds for children in urgent need through sales of the exclusively designed Silver Lockit pendant and bracelet.

The Miami Design District’s Louis Vuitton boutique hosted a glamorous evening for Miami’s glitterati to come and celebrate the $2.5 million raised by Louis Vuitton for UNICEF in the past year. That $2.5m helped bring 4.5 million children life-saving humanitarian support in Syria and Nigeria by providing them with water, immunizations and psychological support.

The evening’s guests were encouraged to hit the Louis Vuitton branded photo booth to snap a GIF with the Silver Lockit. By making a “pinky promise” with a close friend to join the movement, guests shared the image on social media with the hashtag #MAKEAPROMISE.

“Charity starts at home,” said Michael Burke, President of Louis Vuitton. “Last year, we challenged our teams to come up with a symbolic gesture that would federate people around our cause. The idea of the #MAKEAPROMISE campaign comes from children: when they make a promise, they mean it, and they seal it with a pinky promise. Children show us a simple way to change the world. One year after our successful launch, our teams have come up with this idea to keep our promise alive. It’s about joining forces worldwide to raise funds and awareness for children. We believe in  word of mouth. Our goal is to reach as many people as possible and to make a real difference.”

As the champagne flowed and the appetizers were passed, guests were able to admire and purchase the ultra-chic Silver Lockit and bracelet of which $200 of each purchase is donated to UNICEF.

The Silver Lockit and bracelet are both still available for purchase. Louis Vuitton also encourages direct donations to UNICEF.
