Design buffs, take note: renowned architect Daniel Libeskind will be coming to the Miami Design District on Tuesday, May 23 for an engaging discussion for the local community.
Libeskind is among few practicing architects today to be commonly referred to as a “starchitect”, a nickname for architects whose work is widely recognized in the public sphere. He is known for his daring, expressive architecture and urban design plans that often feature bold angular lines and sharp asymmetry.
Although the Polish-American architect is most famous for his master plan for World Trade Center redevelopment, he has worked on a wide array of buildings such as the Jewish Museum in Berlin (which became his first major project), the bold extension to the Denver Art Museum in Colorado (his first project in the United States) and the award-winning Polish skyscraper Zlota 44 (pictured above). He is also a noted designer and artist who has designed functional objects for companies such as Alessi and Swarovski in addition to realizing ambitious public art projects throughout the world.

Titled Creative Minds Talks: The Art of Storytelling, the program will feature Libeskind in conversation with Miami’s own John Stuart. Stuart is an award-winning designer, author, video artist, and a tenured full professor. Among the many hats he wears, Associate Dean for Cultural and Community Engagement in the College of Communication, Architecture and the Arts at Florida International University, is one that uniquely qualifies him to engage with Mr. Libeskind about his practice, and the impact that architecture and urban planning has on communities. The conversation is part of Creative Minds Talks, an ongoing series of discussions curated by Ewa Poilleux that showcases world-renowned creatives in the fields of fashion, architecture, design, art and more, that will be supported and presented in the Miami Design District.
“We pair up two notable names from similar fields for a dialogue that serves to educate, inspire, entertain and promote creative fields of the cultural world,” says Ewa Poilleux
Free and open to the public, The Art of Storytelling will take place at the Moore Building in the Miami Design District on May 23 from 6 to 8 p.m. To register for your free ticket to this exciting program, click here.
