Origins and Mastery (through January 2021) presents masterworks of African, African American and Latin American art. Works by the late Cuban artists Belkis Ayón and Juan Francisco Elso Padilla are featured alongside those by contemporary artists Diogenes Abreu, Antuán, Adger Cowans, Edouard Duval-Carrié, Victor Ekpuk, Ismael Checo, Carl Juste, Isidro Llano, Gustavo Lopez Armentía, Geo Ripley, and Antonio Segui. These surround a central installation of aesthetically sophisticated traditional African sculpture, evoking a shared aesthetic achievement transcending both time and space.
