The weather has finally made that almighty dip into cooler temps and now we Miamians can start to haul out our coats and jackets. This season, the trend for outerwear is packed with unexpected colors and oversized shapes. Classics remain, but with updated twists. To stay warm and look hot this season, try these on for size.

stella mccartney, coat, oversize

Mr. Big
Now that’s a coat. This oversized grey number from Stella McCartney may look like you raided dad’s wardrobe (or shrank), but this trend isn’t getting hung up anytime soon. Big coats mean lots of space to bundle up in. This coat is no exception.

celine, coat, pink

Think Pink
Pale pink is usually a shade reserved for spring, but Céline decided to buck seasonal profiling and welcomed this light and lovely number to its fall/winter collection. The shade is uber feminine and works well with grey. Think of it as your new winter white.

skaits-taylor, coyote trim, fur, coat

Get Trim
The military look is back with a vengeance this season. And with it comes a fur collar, giving these green coats popping up everywhere you look, a hint of haute. This Skaits-Taylor Coyote-trimmed parka takes on a whole new edge when dressed up with a little fluff.

thakoon addition leopard, fur, coat

Classical
Animal prints are still a big trend this season and wearing them to keep warm makes you much like the original animal they’re inspired by. This Thakoon Addition Leopard Knit Coat is as much a modern piece as it is a ‘60s throwback. Pair it with a pop of red and a chic black dress to look like something from your favorite classic flick. Or wear it with jeans and a white tee to give it modern edge.

alexander wang, bomber jacket

Get Bombed
Making its return after a long hiatus, the bomber jacket is the perfect piece to bundle up in when it’s not too cold (read the perfect Miami winter coat). This one from Alexander Wang is perfection with leather and casual details on the sleeves and collar. Wear with a dress or jeans. Either way you will look way cool while staying warm.
