Hedy Goldsmith, a multiple James Beard national finalist, and Heidi Ladell, a luxury hospitality consultant and producer, are our February Ambassadors.
Hedy and Heidi will be celebrating their 24th anniversary this February. It's been nearly a quarter century since the culinary wonderpair met. Heidi shared that upon meeting Hedy she felt the world change and the rest was history. The pair was married this past October in Los Angeles.
What's the first piece of art you fell in love with?
Hedy: I fell in love with Man Ray and Diane Arbus photographs at a very young age. They were major influences in my quest to become a photographer.
Heidi: The Smile of the Flamboyant Wings by Joan Miro.
Who are your favorite designers?
Hedy: My list reads like a who's who in mid century modern design. Richard Neutra, Philip Johnson, Ray and Charles Eames.
Heidi: Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, Richard Neutra, Tom Ford, Rick Owens
What is the best piece of style advice you've ever heard?
Hedy: No white after Labor Day
Heidi: “Take that off”

Hedy: Jack Kerouac , Allen Ginsberg, William s. Burroughs

What is inspiring you these days?
Hedy: Vintage Japanese-ink Painting art of Sumi-e
Heidi: Good design of any kind
What is your motto?
Hedy: Eat dessert First
Heidi: Character is the ability to carry out a good resolution long after the excitement of the moment has passed.
What is your favorite indulgence?
Hedy: Sunday on the beach reading the NY Times sipping Krug Rose. Priceless
Heidi: French fries and bourbon, not necessarily together
What do you consider your greatest achievement?
Hedy: Writing my first cookbook.
Heidi: My 24 year relationship with Hedy.
What career other than your own would you like to attempt?
Hedy: Industrial Design
Heidi: Television news producer.
If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
Hedy: I wish I could be less black and white.
Heidi: I wish I could have long legs.
