When luxury designers take notice of issues beyond the latest fashion trends, big things happen. Case in point: Versace. The design house is teaming up with super model Karlie Kloss, who is featured in its fall campaign, and will donate $100 from the sale of each Versace Palazzo Empire bag at all North American boutiques to Karlie Kloss's scholarship fund, Kode With Klossy from October 1 to December 31.

Kode With Klossy is an organization that offers a free two-week summer camp program for girls 13-18 years old as well as Kode with Klossy Career Scholarship, which is granted each month to young women who are passionate about building a career in code. The goal is to empower women and girls in computer science through providing access to hands-on learning opportunities and community support in order to close the job skills and gender gaps in the tech industry.

The choice to work with Kloss was a natural fit not only because she wears the clothes well (a gross understatement), but also the brand, at the helm of Donatella Versace, is focusing on female empowerment, which Kode with Kloss embodies.

“This collection is so important to me. Every single piece is wearable, desirable, real. It’s about expressing a woman’s strength and her individuality,” says Donatella Versace about her latest collection.

A welcome addition to any handbag collection, the Palazzo Empire bag is designed out of supple calf leather, features the iconic with Medusa Head closure, top handle, and has inner pockets. The bag can be carried two ways, either by hand or across the body with the wide colored strap. Available in a number of colors, our favorites are the bright color-blocked versions.

Female empowerment was on display on Versace’s Fall Winter 2016 runway, as the models sashayed to music with lyrics that stated 'Make It Happen,' something the brand feels Karlie is doing — making it happen for young women today by giving them the tools to build a career in computer science.
