Rirkrit Tiravanija’s “The Sun is Gone But We Have the Light, 2005” is now on view in the Design District. Rirkrit Tiravanija is the doyen of relational aesthetics. His diverse artistic production focuses on real-time experiences that break down the barriers between the object and the spectator. This work is a reference to a line sung by Kurt Cobain in Nirvana’s song “Dumb”. “I’m not like them, but I can pretend, the sun is gone, but I have a light, the day is done, but I’m having fun…”
